How to Keep Your Home Picturesque

Living in your own Malibu or Beverly Hills luxury home while it is on the market can be a very stressful time in your life. The children still leave dirty footprints all over the floors, the dog still sheds, and the kitchen still needs to be used. Fortunately, I have some tips that will help you keep your home in open house shape.

1) Hide Things Well: Even if you do not have time to clean your whole living room before an interested buyer comes, if you put down a blanket or throw for your family to sit on normally, you can just pick it up and throw it in a closet. This way, all the dog hair and mess is in one location. Also, always keep Swiffer wipes in a close location in order to clean up dust from hard surfaces and couches.

2) Less Stuff, Less Time Cleaning: When having your Malibu beach house or Beverly Hills luxury home for sale, put all those random things you keep in your main rooms away. With less stuff out, there is less that you have to worry about cleaning or dusting off. Removing extra furniture is also a good idea to consider.

3) Contain the Chaos: Start a system of having your kids put their loose objects into a container every night before bed (toys, iPods, video games, etc.). Stow away the containers in their closet or the laundry room every night. This way, if there is an early showing the next day, it's extra easy to clean up after your kids, who tend to be the messiest.

4) Keep Your Kitchen Clean: Cleaning your kitchen after a whole day of dirty dishes have piled up is a time-consuming mess and easy to procrastinate on. But, if you clean your kitchen counters and dishes after every meal, it will be much easier to keep you house tidy for any last minute showings when you are busy at work.

5) Develop a Game Plan: When you start showing your Malibu or Beverly Hills home for sale, you have to change your normal thinking of how often you have to clean it. Many of us put off cleaning during the week because we have the weekend to do the chores. But actually, most showings happen on the weekends, especially Sunday. So, if you develop a plan to clean up on a daily basis, your home will be show worthy on Sunday.

And lastly, don't worry so much. Your real estate agent knows that you are still living there and will help you make changes for showings, accordingly.
